Group Technology (GT) is executing CAPEX projects and commissioning world class production equipment and factories of the ROCKWOOL Group. Our aim is to have the most competitive and flexible production platform in the industry while delivering top class quality under safe conditions.

This is the role

You will be part of the Systems Solutions team, the Competence Centre for the production technology and processes for the System divisions and Off-line production lines.

As CAD Engineer you will work in all phases of a project, from concept study through specification and design to test, commissioning and after service.

You will be part of project teams and support with all CAD related activities from preparing initial draft layouts to verify concepts and start permitting track all the way to compiling 3D layout models based on (preliminary) 3D models provided by our suppliers. There will be cases where it is required to build your models. Alignment with relevant parties in the project like our civil engineers will be natural for you.

Beside the project assignments you will work with other CAD and mechanical designers in Group Technology. Building a network with these colleagues will drive your understanding of our technology and the systems we work with.

Your assignments will be linked to all projects we are running in the System solutions team but could as well contain some requests to support other areas. Projects vary from small machine deliveries and engineering support to deliver large “Green Field” factory projects on a global scale.

You should expect around 20-40 travel days per year.

This Is What You Offer

Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant equivalent with minimum 5 years experience in CAD Coordination tasks preferable in an international operating company.

We expect that you have the following experiences and qualities:

  • Creating the equipment layout 2D/3D based on input provided by the equipment teams;
  • Creating Concept layouts including permit layouts to be prioritized according to project schedule;
  • Providing civil input to share with Civil Designer;
  • Continuously monitoring for clashes and addressing issues in review meetings;
  • Planning and coordinating CAD tasks to meet deadlines;
  • Monitoring need for resources and delegation of tasks to other CAD team members (assigned to the project);
  • Continuously updating layouts 2D/3D for stakeholders;
  • Developing (layout) solutions and constructions with project members;
  • Being interested to form a process understanding of what you are working on layout wise;
  • Being both quality and result oriented with a high standard in your deliveries;
  • Being a team player, but also able to work independently;
  • Able to deal with deviations in your daily plan, high degree of flexibility and being perseverant;
  • Pro-active in regards of gaining knowledge and initiating the required actions;
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken);
  • Proficiency in relevant CAD software such as: Autodesk, AutoCAD, Inventor, Vault, Navis.
