Main Tasks/Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Together with internal experts and external suppliers, our advanced process control and digitalization engineer is expected to:
Take the lead in process automation in projects of Smurfit Westrock mills:
- Develop concept of the automation system, hardware and software;
- Support the selection of certain types of sensors;
- Take ownership of functional descriptions, supervise automation software development, lead factory acceptance test & implementation;
- Tune and optimize control loops.
Take the lead in advanced process control in projects in Smurfit Westrock mills:
- Develop multivariable control loops and advanced modelling techniques such as soft sensors, either within automation systems or third-party advanced control software;
- Raise awareness of advantages of advanced controls and modelling techniques in paper mills, with the view of initiating relevant projects in the mills.
Support digitalization journey in Smurfit Westrock mills:
- Roll out best practices in using data historians;
- Pilot and roll out advanced data-driven technologies such as machine learning in production environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor/Master degree in automation/control engineering;
- Sound knowledge of process and control dynamics;
- Experience in advanced process control and process modelling/identification is a plus;
- Experience in performing automation/control tasks for projects;
- Experience in selling/marketing advanced technologies in production environment is a big plus;
- A big passion for software as well as digital and data-driven technologies;
- Excellent communication skills in English;
- Willingness to travel within Europe (up to 50% in normal times).
